When the 2010 Ford Fusion arrived on the scene, it was known for its dependable nature. Although the manufacturer did its best in creating its build, some problems still slipped through the cracks. Unfortunately, the issues did not come to light until it hit the streets, resulting in several recalls.

How many ABS module recalls does the 2010 Ford Fusion have?

There’s only one related recall as of August 2020, but it started with several complaints, including:

  • Additional brake pedal travel that feels jarring
  • The need for extra effort to activate the brakes
  • Decreased stopping power, resulting in accidents

Thankfully, we are here to talk about the 2010 Ford Fusion anti-lock braking system (ABS) recall and let you know just how to handle it. That way, you can keep your car stopping on a dime without having to press the pedal to the floor.

ABS Valve Malfunctions and Stays Open

NHTSA Complaint ID: 19V904000

After using the anti-lock braking system to slow or stop your vehicle, its valves should return to their original position and fully close to let the lines pressurize. Unfortunately, the ABS hydraulic control units do not let this happen if they were previously filled with corrosion-prevention brake fluid.

The ABS control module cannot properly activate the system at that point, resulting in the need for repairs. Without fixing the problem, you will have to push the brake pedal down further than normal and may notice that it feels spongy.

Fixing the problem starts with a full brake flush using DOT 4 fluid and a new cap for the brake fluid reservoir. After that, techs can check if the valves still stick. If so, they just need to replace the hydraulic control unit to fully restore the function of the ABS.

What’s the Best Way to Handle a 2010 Ford Fusion Recall?

Not sure if your 2010 Ford Fusion has any open recalls? Just need to type its VIN into the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. You can also do a general check using its year, make, and model.

If the system tells you that your vehicle may need recall repairs, just call 1-866-436-7332 to reach the customer service department at Ford. They will let you know which service department to go to and what to expect while you are there.

Same ABS Issue but Ford says no. 2010 Ford Fusion SE 2.5 L4 FI GAS VIN A DOHC ABS module bad.
Three years ago, the Ford dealer replaced brakes (rotors, calipers, pads, etc.); it was spendy. Three months ago, I started having longer than normal brake travel and harder than normal pressure to stop the car. I checked the fluid, and it was a little low, but what would I expect after normal pad wear? I had an emergency stop and was about to put the brake pedal through the floor. I inspected the brakes and found a slight fluid leak at the right rear caliper. This caliper was the third one since Ford did the brakes, and since I had moved out of state, I could not take it back to the same place, and their warranty was up, so I decided not to spend that much money and planned to do the brakes myself as I am a decent shade-tree mechanic. Replaced both rear calipers with new (not rebuilt), put four new rotors on, and all new pads and clips. I tried to bleed the brakes and could only get fluid movement out of the right rear and left front calipers. Replaced the left rear and right front flexible hoses and tried to gravity bleed overnight, but nothing. I replaced the master cylinder, but nothing. I bought another master cylinder from Ford and replaced it, but still nothing. I had it towed to my local repair shop, and they tried for two days to reset the ABS module, but there was no change. They told me of the recall. I called Ford, and they said there was a recall of a 2010 Ford Fusion for a bad ABS module but that it did not cover my 2010 Ford Fusion ABS module. I will now tow the car from the repair shop to the Ford Dealer and learn what they discover.

Why aren't all 2006 2010 Ford fusion on this recall list?
So my mom's 2010 word fusion is having this exact same problem, and when the Ford dealership looked it up, it said that the Vin number, does not match the recall of. In my opinion, they should have to fix all of the breaking issues from every 2006 through 2010 Ford fusion. I also looked it up online. The problem is extend past 2010 through 2011 and 2012 my opinion does one should be fixed to., stay away from four people. They will sell you a lemon, and not fix it.

ABS Control Unit went out.
I have a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. I noticed my brakes getting kind of squishy . Took it to mechanic and he said that car has issues with that very thing. Now my brakes went out completely. Ford says my VIN number doesnt match the cars recalled. This is nonsense. Its the same part with the same issues. Goto https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#vehicle and report to them the issue. If enough of us do this, maybe we can get a recall.

ABS Control UNIT Ford Fusion Hybrid 2010
I had National Tire and Battery tell me myABS was on recall, but when I took it to Ford, they said, my VIN number didnt match the recalls. Its like the same exact part, probably made at the same factory with the same defects. Ford should have to take care of this. If enough of us complain to United States Department of Transportation maybe something can be done. Https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#vehicle

My vehicle also has this problem but is not on the recall list
For anyone else whose 2010 Fusion has this problem but is not on the recall list, please go to the NTHSA website and file a complaint. If enough of us do this, they will have to investigate and Ford will have to recall the rest of the faulty ABS controllers.

Thanks for the information about this but after looking up my VIN, it says no recalls, but my abs system is having this exact problem
