The stop start function of the 2019 Ford Fusion is designed to conserve fuel and reduce emissions. The auto stop/start will automatically disable itself if temperatures outside are too high and the fan must run to cool the engine or it detects a weak battery. Under normal conditions a car will be switched off 50,000 times in its lifetime but with auto stop start technology this number increases to over 500,000x. The battery must be powerful to support so many cycles of "on" and "off". However, if You wish to disable the feature manually, depress the button located at the bottom of the shifter in the center console. The button will feature an "A" surrounded by a semi-circle, and it must pressed each time You enter the vehicle to maintain the "off" setting.
