The 2012 Ford Escape's dash might need to be removed to gain access to modules or other electrical components. To remove, first disconnect the battery and turn the headlights on. It's critical to drain the power out of the vehicle when disconnecting airbags. It will take A5.5mm socket to remove the airbag from the driver's side of the vehicle. Remove the steering wheel with a 24mm socket. The cover for the steering wheel can be unclipped and unbolted with a torX20 bit. The dash panel behind the odometer cluster can now be removed by unclipping and removing one bolt to the left of the driver's knee. The kick panel is removed with a 16mm socket.
