The 2006 Nissan Maxima slip indicator light will blink when the traction control system is limiting wheel spin. Slippery road conditions may exist if the slip indicator blinks on. If this happens, adjust Your driving accordingly. If the same light remains lit or flashes for an extended period when starting Your vehicle, it indicates a fault in the stability control system. The vehicle will operate normally, but without the advanced control system. You may continue driving, but do so with caution, particularly in poor weather. It is only safe to drive with the TCS light on if it appears when You are losing traction.
