Your 2003 Mazda Protege manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor is located attached to Your intake manifold. It's held in place by two screws, and has a wire connector going to it. Switching out is incredibly simple. Cost wise, You can pick up a new one from AutoZone for around $42; brand isn't important. If You haven't had a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) thrown of the check engine light (CEL) illuminated, but suspect there are some issues with the MAP, here are some of the common symptoms: Erratic or rough idling, especially when You've been driving and stop (at a stop light, etc), delay when accelerating or trying to slow down, and excess exhaust emissions (and subsequent failure of an emissions test).
