The 2004 Toyota Solara uses SAE 5W-30 motor oil in the engine. Toyota recommends that You use synthetic oil whenever You need to change it. There are two types of oil that are on the market these days, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is newer and engineered in a lab to give You greater wear protection and longer life compared to the petroleum-based conventional option. This means that You will need to change it less often. Usually You change synthetic oil every 7,500 miles and conventional every 3,500 to 5,000 miles. I recommend that You check Your oil at least once a month. During this check You will want to make sure that it is full and free from signs of debris.
