Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 is the preferred motor oil for the 2012 Ford Escape. An equivalent oil can be used as long as it meets Fords WSS-M2C945-A specifications and has the same viscosity rating. You can use either a synthetic blend or a full synthetic oil. You should check the oil level monthly and change the oil when indicated by the message center, but do not exceed 10,000 miles or 12 months. The 2.5L I4 engine holdS5.3 quarts of oil and use a MOTORCRAFT FL-910S oil filter and the 3.0L V6 engine holdS6.0 quarts and uses a MOTORCRAFT FL-500-S filter. To reset the oil life light, turn the ignition to the Run position and push the setup button until the oil life percent is displayed. Press and hold the reset button for 2 seconds and when You release it the oil life will be reset to 100%.
