The 2016 Buick LaCrosse uses SAE 5W-30 oil in the engine. Buick recommends that You use synthetic oil every time that You need to change it. There are two main types of oil that You can find on the market today, conventional and synthetic. Conventional is the older type of oil that has been around for decades and is petroleum based. Synthetic is a newer invention and is engineered to give You better wear protection and longer life between oil changes. This means You can usually go 7,500 miles between changes using synthetic compared to the 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. I recommend checking Your oil at least once a month. You will want to make sure that it is full and free from signs of debris.
