The 2000 Ford Ranger uses a ¾-inch hex head lug nut with ½-inch X20 threads. The Ranger useS5 lug nuts per wheel and has A5 X4.5 wheel bolt pattern. When replacing the lug nuts hand tighten all the nuts first and then tighten every other lug nut until fully seated and torque them to 100 lb-ft. Using a high quality torque wrench. Make sure the tapered end of the lug nut is facing towards the wheel, installing them backwards could damage the wheel causing the stud to break and eventually the tire could fall off the vehicle, which could lead to serious or fatal injuries. You should double check the lug nuts after 20 to 30 miles of driving to make sure they haven't loosened.
