The 2006 Ford Escape uses Dexron or Mercon I transmission fluid. This is ATF III fluid. You can purchase this fluid in 1 quart containers at most big box retail locations, automotive shops, and online at reputable car part websites. You can expect to pay between $3 and $15 per bottle. The manual for this vehicle states it can take up to 10.2 quarts of transmission fluid, however, it was been reported by some drivers that they were only able to fill their reservoir from empty to the full line with around 5 to 6 quarts. You may want to purchase a funnel to aide You in delivering the new fluid to the reservoir without causing any undue mess.
