The 2001 Buick Century requires SAE 5W-30 synthetic motor oil. Including the filter, the oil capacity iS4.5 quarts. To perform an oil change Yourself, first open the oil cap under the hood. On the underside of the car, release the oil plug and drain the oil. Retighten the bolt. Remove the oil filter checking that the rubber gasket comes off with it. At times the gasket can get stuck. The filter thread size is M18 X1.50. After installing the new filter You can then fill the reservoir with the aforementioned oil amount. Run Your car's engine for roughly 10 seconds. Turn the engine off then check the oil level. You can do so by first removing the dipstick, cleaning it, reinserting, then removing once more. The oil level should be between the MINImum and maximum marker.
