INFINITI recommends that You use SAE 5W-30 oil in a 2010 QX56. INFINITIAlso recommends that You use synthetic oil when You need to change it. Oil comes in two major variants, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is made of chemicals in a lab and is designed to give You better protection for the rotating components in Your engine compared to conventional oil. Synthetic also has the benefit of lasting longer than standard oil. You should only need an oil change every 7,500 miles instead of every 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. I recommend that You check Your oil every time that You get fuel. This is a good way to make sure that it is filled properly, and that it is free from debris.
