The 2011 Kia Sorento map sensor is located on the passenger side of the engine bay connected to the firewall of the vehicle. In fuel-injected automotive engines, a manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor is used to continuously monitor the amount of air flowing into the engine, so the computer can calculate air density. It then can adjust the amount of fuel to spray into the combustion chamber and adjust the ignition timing. If the MAP sensor goes bad, the ECM can't accurately calculate engine load. This means the air-fuELRatio will become either too rich (more fuel) or too lean (less fuel). This leads to excessive fuel consumption, poor fuel economy, and possibly detonation.

My 2011 Kia has the MAP on the driver’s side near the fan. It’s a 2.4L, 4 cylinder. The piece is easy to replace, only need a 10mm with an extension (disconnect the battery, first). After putting in the new sensor, drove it 4.2 miles and came home.I let it sit for a 1/2-hour then turned it over… “P0106 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance”, again. Funny thing is, it’s throwing three P0106 codes - all the same.
