The wastegate solenoid for the 2013 Ford Escape is situated on the side where the firewall is located for the engine. This wastegate solenoid is responsible for controlling the vacuum which is supplied to it from a vacuum pump. If a wastegate goes bad, then You may experience a blinking check engine light, a rapidly decreasing fuel economy, and a non-functional turbo boost during acceleration. You may need to have this part replaced if You experience any of these problems. The cost of the replacements for a bad wastegate or a wastegate solenoid ranges from $200 to around $350. It should be noted that these costs are only provided as a rough estimate and should only be used as a reference.
