Taking the time to learn a bit about the most common problems can help you to decide what to do if these problems pop up with your vehicle.

About the Infiniti G35

This is a mid-size sedan that was first introduced to the market in 2002 as a 2003 model. This car has undergone a few body and style changes and is a fantastic car for those that are looking for a middling size sedan.

This is a vehicle that comes in an all-wheel drive version as well. There are currently three recalls for this vehicle despite the various problems that have been reported for this car.

Common Infiniti G35 Problems

Engine Electrical System

NHTSA Complaint IDs: 11083779, 10894755

The complainant states that though their car is not part of a recent recall, it is having the same issues as the models and VIN numbers that were listed in the recall.

The driver states that the car will die for no reason while the car is in motion, no matter what speed they are driving. The car flashes check engine lights and then dies, and then the driver loses all control of the vehicle.

The second complaint is very similar. The driver states that when the car is in drive it suddenly goes into a service engine mode and the car then stops functioning. Both drivers believe that this has to do with a defect in the crank shaft and crank sensors.

There is no recall for the cars that are listed in the complaint but there are several more complaints on the NHTSA website that site similar issues.

Airbag Indicator Light

NHTSA Complaint ID: 11093539

Car Airbag Warning Light On The Dashboard

This is a series of complaints that total around 10 in all by different drivers. Drivers state that the airbag indicator light keeps coming on and flashing and that no service that is done on it helps or makes the light go out.

One driver even complained that the light has been on for three years and that even a recall repair did not fix the issue.

Engine Stalling

NHTSA Complaint ID: 10899618

This problem revolves around the engine going into safe mode or going into a lower gear and limiting the amount of power that the engine has. There are several different complaints in this category with 38 total complaints regarding the engine of this vehicle.

The same complaint also stated that the car burns an excess of oil when running which causes the engine oil light to come on even with a fresh oil change.

Brake System

NHTSA Complaint ID: 10864515

This complaint centers around the car slipping into safe mode and the brakes causing the entire car to shake when they are applied. Drivers also complained that the car brakes locked up and did not work properly when they were applied.

These are issues that made this car unsafe when driving and caused many drivers to feel that there should be a recall even though there was not.

Exterior Lights

NHTSA Complaint ID: 10943997

This problem centers around the exterior lights failing while the car is in motion. The third brake light has been cited as going out with several different drivers and many drivers have stated that they have had the third brake light replaced, only for it to go out again.

This is a problem that makes it dangerous to drive at night because it does not allow other drivers to be notified adequately that the car in front is about to stop.

How to Find out if I Have a Recall?

If you believe that your vehicle may have a recall or may be dealing with issues that have been commonly reported, looking up the VIN or the model number will help you determine how to fix or repair your car if you do start to deal with some of these common issues.

Modifications(grounding kit), and 2 other fixes
I have a 2003 Infiniti G35 , a 4 door with a manual transmission. I installed a grounding kit. This may have prevented the problems (such as stalling out while driving) that were mentioned by commentators. We sent the 6 CD changer for service , and, changed the wiring harness for the brake light in the wing , attached to the rear trunk. We bought the car new in 2003 and use the car as a secondary vehicle.
