The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu comes in three distinct versions, but still has the same oil capacity and recommended oil types across the board! The 2 L, 2.4 L and 2.5 L engines all take up to a maximum of 5 quarts. Chevrolet recommends that You use the sae 5w-30 viscosity grade oil for all of the engines, as it is a fully synthetic oil that benefits performance, efficiency and longevity. They recommend performing an oil change every 7,500 miles or so in the case of synthetic oils, and once every 3,500 to 5,000 miles if using a conventional oil. Oil changes typically cost between $100 and $150, depending on Your locality. You can also purchase these oils at Walmart or Autozone, and do the replacement process Yourself!

What happens if you put 5w-30 in stead of 5w-20 in the 2.5l engine

The oil capacity of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu 2.0L L4 AWD engine holds 6 quarts (5.7 Liters). The oil capacity of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu 2.0L L4 FWD, 2.4L and 2.5L engine holds 5 quarts (4.7 Liters). The proper oil for the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is the SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade engine oil for the 2.0L engine and 2.4L engine. The SAE 5W-20 viscosity grade engine oil is best for the 2.5L engine.
