The 2005 Chevy Silverado has a cabin air filter that is located in the truck on the passenger side behind the glove box. You will need to remove the glove compartment completely and then You can access the plastic panel that covers the filter. I recommend that You check Your filter at least every 6 months to make sure that it is free from excessive debris or mold. The cabin air filter is there to help keep dust and allergens out of the cabin of Your truck and may get worn out at some point and need to be replaced. The OEM filter is made out of paper, but there are upgraded charcoal and carbon filters on the market that can give You better air quality.

The typical access door does not exist on a 2005 Chevy Silverado. It's a sealed mold where it should go.

I read in another forum that it was an option in 2005. Some have it some do not. Remove the bottom plastic shroud under the glove box.If it has one the cover is held in place with one bolt and then swings down. YouTube for a visual.

I have an 05 silverado 1500 z71 off road and I've spent a couple hours trying find out if it has a cabin filter where it's located and why there's no access door. According to the chevy dealer my truck doesn't have a cabin filter. I saw on youtube where people were changing cabin filters and it made no sense to me why I was having such a hard time trying to locate the access door. Turns out some year models don't have it. If your truck has a sealed mold then you don't have a filter..
