The 2014 Honda CR-V was the last year that it came with a standard traditional automatic transmission. For the 2015 model year they updated it to have a CVT. A CVT transmission is a newer style of transmission that has main points where it stops, but is continuously variable. This can lead to the vehicle running smoother. The big downside of a CVT is that they use belts and a steELRibbon which are both fragile. This can lead to damage happening to them fairly easily. CVTs are also more complex than a standard transmission so there are not as many shops that can rebuild and work on them.

The 2014 Honda CR-V does not have a CVT transmission, it comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission.
