The Volkswagen Atlas will come standard as a front wheel drive vehicle but there are upgrade options available. If You have a model with a 2.0L engine You will be stuck with front wheel drive as no upgrades are possible on those. The 3.6L models will come standard with front wheel drive but they will also have the option to upgrade to all wheel drive. This upgrade will cost $2000. The top of the line model is the 3.6L V6 SEL Premium and it will come standard with all wheel drive. No models will have four wheel drive.

The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas has All-Wheel Drive - AWD and front-wheel drive but no 4WD. The base trim 2.0T S and the 2.0T SE and 2.0T SEL, are only equipped with front wheel drive. The 3.6L V6 S, 3.6L V6 Launch Edition, 3.6L V6 SE and 3.6L V6 SEL offer a choice between front wheel drive and AWD. Lastly the 3.6L V6 SEL Premium is only available with AWD.
