Starting in 2007 the Dodge Nitro was offered with a tire pressure monitor system. TPMS is a system that uses a sensor mounted in the valve stem of each tire to remotely monitor the pressure in that tire. The system communicates using an RF signal from the sensors that exchanges data with the vehicle. If one of the sensors reads a tire pressure below a preset amount it will let You know with a warning light on the dashboard. To reset this light all You have to do is fill the tire to the correct psiAnd drive the vehicle for 10-15 minutes at speeds of 15 mph or higher. The sensor will read the new pressure and turn off the light.

To reset the TPMS on the Dodge Nitro make sure the tire pressure is correct, then turn on the vehicle. Now hit the reset button that is to the right of the steering wheel and wait ten minutes. In some cases you may need to hold the button down till the light flashes.

To get the display to update almost instantly (15-30 seconds) over-inflate the tire(s) in question by 15Psi. The sensor will notice a large change in pressure in a short period of time, and re-transmit the pressure on the spot, rather than wait until is has been ~10 minutes since it last transmitted. Once the display updates lower the pressure to the correct value, and the sensor will notice a large change in pressure in a short period of time, and re-transmit the pressure on the spot, rather than wait until is has been ~10 minutes since it last transmitted.
