To reset the Dodge Ram throttle position sensor(TPS), You need to turn on the ignition without Your foot on the brake, so the engine doesn't start. Then press the accelerator on the floor for 15 seconds. Release the accelerator. Then turn the car off and start the engine and drive. When a TPS goes bad, then the car's throttle body won't function properly. It could either stay shut or it won't close properly which is a severe issue. If it stays shut then Your engine is not going receive air and it won't start.Depending on the exact nature of Your bad TPS problem, Your truck could be very difficult to drive, it could get stuck on the side of the road, or it could even accelerate uncontrollably. This is a very scary and dangerous situation!

That makes no sense. My 2012 Ram 1500 starts all the time without my foot on the brake. In fact I start it that more often than not: especially since I use the remote start a lot here in Jackson, WY. Hmmm... Curious...

The electronic throttle light came on in my 2008 Ram 3500 diesel. I turned the truck on and off several times and drove it 30+ miles with a rough idle and the light still stayed on. I followed the above instructions and it worked. After several starts and driving it a couple of times, no electronic throttle light and a smooth idle.

O.k..... After trying the above answer with no luck, I finally left the ignition OFF and held the throttle down for 15 seconds. Throttle now works.

This is about the Aisen transmission’s they do not put these in 1500 trucks. I do not know how or if they even can reset that.

The electronics are sensative. It could be as simple as pulling too much juice from some odd spot. I had 1 too many cords plugged into my power points in my durango. Removed one and problem went away. Stupid i know... But i tested it a couple times, plug in / unplug tps code come up immediately when i had something plugged in and then not at all when i unplugged. So if you added some electronic device this could be the issue. Mine was adding 1 more item to usb, which are very low power but enough to f*^# up the sensor. My 2 cents
