As the driver of a MINI Cooper, You may be wondering how to reset the safe mode for Your vehicle. This is easy to do, and will only take about 4 to 8 minutes of Your time. The first thing You will need to do is open the driver's side door, and get inside. Next, put the physical key into the ignition. Place the ignition into the off position only. Now, locate the odometer reset button on Your center dash, and press it down. Hold it until the safe mode has reset.

To reset a MINI Cooper safe mode with the key in the ignition, but in the off position, press and hold down the odometer reset button with one hand.
My 2011 started this. So I got service. Oil change and all fluids topped up. Then on freeway back into limp mode. Pulled onto shoulder, switched to my 2nd key remote, that "seems" to have fixed it for now but I don't trust it. Service and check eng in Speedo still on. But not in tach.
Ps. Disconnecting battery doesn't work. So don't waste your time. It's an ecu issue. Once it's logged it will stay like that til a service shop resets it. Or swap keys.
I have a 2015 mini cooper countryman s how do I reset the safe mode on it
