The Chevrolet Malibu mid-sized car has an average life expectancy of between 100,000 and 150,000 miles. This is usually a time period of 10 to 15 years or more. Life span is greatly dependent on maintaining regular service on Your vehicle. Every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first, the Malibu should undero an oil, brake fluid, power steering and transmission fluid check and change. All filters, including fuel and cabin air, should be inspected for dirt or clogging, and replaced. If Your vehicle has a timing belt, it should be checked for signs of wear. You should also have Your tires rotated regularly. All of these things will keep Your car in great condition, lasting for a decade or more.
I have a 2003 Malibu acting like it was stuck in cruze control. The problem would go away by itself and then reoccur. I took it into a shop and had a idle value and throttle replaced. Hopefully that corrected the problem. I seems to be driving well for now. My big complaint was that I had to replace the same hub 4 different times. And I need a new fuel pump right after I purchased it. And I had to replace a linking tramission line. I change my oil regularly and have a small oil leak. I have 153,000 miles on my car. I hope to get 200,000. I'd say I spend about a 1000 a year on repairs. My gas mileage isn't great anymore. I'm thinki.g of buyi.g a new car which might save on gas and without the repairs I may break even. Haven't taken the plunge yet because of covid.
I have a 2009 Hybrid Malibu with 287,000 miles and I drive it daily. It has been to Texas Missouri Illinois Iowa Kansas Nebraska & Wyoming so far and next month it will be in New Mexico and Phoenix from Oklahoma City! I do the maintenance required so it keeps going, I will miss it for sure.

I have a 2005 Malibu with a V6. 213000 miles. Haven't had any major work done just the normal wear and tear items such as brakes, control arm bushings and tie rod ends...All interior items work great. Starting to rust badly behind lower body trim. But is hidden from plane view. This is mostly from driving on gravel roads. Still has excellent power to pass on the highway.

I have a 2013 Chevy Malibu with 200,599 miles. I haven’t had to replace anything on it. I just do all the recommended maintenance
DO NOT BUT A CHEVY MALABU! The car is truly poorly made. 3 1/2 years after owning a brand new Malibu, The Engine shut down while driving with no warnings. Passenger seat stop moving 3 years after purchase, power steering while driving no warning, both back passenger doors stopped locking after 3 years.
