How long a Ford Explorer will last is totally dependent on how well the vehicle is maintained and sometimes just pure plain luck. If the vehicle is well taken care of and you are lucky it might last anywhere froM200,000 to over 400,000 miles or so. If the vehicle is not well taken care of and or you are not lucky it might only last about 100,000 to 150,000 miles or so. One of the most important things you can do for the vehicle is to change the oil regularly. For the Explorer you should do an oil and filter change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or so. Other important things you can do is to change other fluid such as the coolant, transmission fluid and change other things like the spark plugs and the engine filter.
