The 2009 Nissan Murano has one catalytic converter, just like most cars. The two headers that run from the engine to the back and converge into the exhaust pipe house the converter near the end of it. The converter is designed to eliminate toxic emissions from the car. If You notice a smell coming into the cab of the car this could be from a bad converter. Replacing it will cost You about 200 dollars, plus more for labor if You don't do it Yourself. To remove the converter You will need to pull a couple of bolts and then unscrew it.

Since the 2009 Nissan Murano exhaust system comes from 2 (two) headers into a single exhaust pipe, the catalytic converter is attached once it is a single exhaust pipe. Thus, the 2009 Murano has 1 (one) catalytic converter.
Thank you J.F. August 27, 2020 answer... Because mine also has three.
