Ford Escape vehicles are not known to last very long with the average being around 150,000 miles. Some users have been able to get theirs up to 250,000 miles but this will be the high end for this vehicle and You should not expect Yours to last that long. To lengthen the life of Your vehicle You will want to take it in regularly for maintenance and check ups. If You buy this vehicle new it would be wise to purchase an extended warranty so that You can get all of that taken care of on a strict schedule for the firSTSeveral years of the vehicle's life.

Just purchased a 2014 Escape 1.6L 2WD at 100,000 kms. How long will it last? Car complaints forums say to avoid it like the plague. I should have done enough research but VIN says no recalls.

So I have a 2014 Ford Escape - never had one issue. Paid off in April 2020 and I take care of the car, oil changes, tires rotated, recalls taken care of and so on. I was driving home last week and it would hesitate at a stop sign or a light but then it would go into gear. The next day it went to a local mechanic that we trust. Got a call and the whole transmission has to be replaced or rebuilt, anywhere between $3100 & $4000 - WTH - So I looked to see if there was a recall and evidently there is litigation going on about recalling the 2014 Ford Escape. This is what is written about it: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Ford Escape, and 2013-2016 Ford Fusion vehicles, equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions. The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission may degrade over time and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. 2014 is considered a devastating one for this model of car because of its transmission. The 2014 model would often stop completely while it was driving down the road. Owners reported having to turn their car on or off again several times on a single trip. Shockingly, Ford never recalled the transmission. I am so mad - I will never buy another Ford again!

The Ford Escape was basically the same car (a few engine choices) until 2012. In 2013 it changed completely, with smaller 4 cylinder and turbo options. From what I'm reading here, it seems that longevity may be much lower on the 2013+ versions.

She was backed him to buy a box truck hit hard enough that radiator was destroyed so I had to replace that as well, The only electrical problem has been the lights on the radio Still driver 4000 miles a month can’t kill the little beast

I have a 2009 standard transmission Ford Esacpe with 173,000 miles on it. It runs great haven’t had any real serious issues other than standard maintenance such as brake pads battery alternator and tie rod replacement but I will say what has been kind of “fluky” was I had to replace the key ignition switch on the steering column and a belt tensioner wheel went bad. Since the mechanic had to get down into the tensioner I told him to replace the water pump for just added insurance. Also had to replace a/c evaporator core. But overall the engine runs great. I change the oil with synthetic oil every 7500 miles

The transmission in our 2014 Ford Escape went out completely at about 130,000 miles. We had to pay thousands to have the transmission completely rebuilt. Then about a month later we had to have the tubes all replaced because the transmission fluid kept leaking. Under the hood is so poorly organized and such a pain to get to for the mechanics that labor is always way higher for the amount of time they have to spend under the hood getting to anything. We were turned away by 2 car shops in arow because the shop owners hate working on Ford Escapes so much. The last guy we found who was willing todo the work we needed said he have smelled gas for a momentwhen he turned it on .. He went on to say that if it goes up in flames to just let it burn. Then when we asked about resale and he said if it was his car he couldn’t sell it to someone because his conscience wouldn’t allow him to screw someone else over like that. This car has been such a nightmare for us. We can’t wait to get rid of it.

I have a 2009 ford escape XLT 3.0, bought it with 112000 and now its up to 143000. Before buying it have new coils, new breaks, has had issue with the tire pressure sensor since purchase, these are notorious for that, no biggie. Engine runs great and everything else. I've noticed a theme in the comments and from the mechanics I've had do maintenance, is that between the other engines and the 3.0, the 3.0 is the better one. Less issues and long life. There have been a few other escapes without the 3.0 in my family and they didn't last long. I'd say if you have the 3.0 don't sweat it, but the rest?.. Maybe retire early before it leaves you stranded or out of transportation.

My 2003 V6 Escape has about 320,000 miles. Mostly highway and driven regularly except for a one year stint when it sat. It's been very reasonable with repairs original engine and transmission. I love it more than my 2011 Escape AWD 4cyl that seems to have constant problems with the bearings and all things suspension. The 2011 Escape has 185,000 miles. The 2011 I have replaced transmission once and wheel bearings at least 3 times along with cv joints etc ... I drive off road a lot for work and I expect the dirt to get in the brakes and wear on the rotors for any car. I thought the AWD Escape would be good for my job (off road on farms through mud etc). It is not. The '03 2WD is less problems. I think the AWD being constantly engaged is problematic for my driving style and is maybe better for snow situations than mud. 2013 4WD not a 4WD for a GA country girl but an AWD for a Illinois soccer mom maybe. The 2013 AWD has definitely pulled me through some ugly mud but not worth the cost to maintain. Better to stick with the older 2WD and walk or get pulled out by a passer by. The V6 in my '03 escape has made me never want to drive a 4 cyl again. Especially in a heavy vehicle like that. When you have to turn left on a crammed pack highway with log trucks and people speeding. It's not good. The 2003 2WD 6cyl gets just as good gas mileage as the 2011 4cyl AWD. I almost sold my 2003 Escape once and now I am so glad I didn't. I'm going to keep on keeping the '03 up and if the engine or tranny goes I will replace because that will be cheaper than a new car and I know exactly what I've got in it and what it can do. Also, the newer problematic Escape was driven mostly city miles by the previous owner and the older better Escape was driven mostly highway miles by the previous owner. I drive mostly highway. I've learned from this experience to look for one owner vehicles who have mostly highway miles. The city miles take a toll on you and your car. Also, a 4 cylinder is not saving you gas if it is working harder to pull the weight of the vehicle. V6 is probably equally good on gas and gives you more punch to pull out (in a heavy body suv).

2008 Ford Escape 4cylinder. 210K miles, zero engine issues, only issues I’ve had are the brakes. I wish the car would die so I can convince myself to buy something but I don’t foresee that happening. Runs great.

2011 Escape V6 with 174,000 on it. I regularly change oil and changing transmission fluid is easier than changing engine oil. I done the coils, plugs, front brake hoses, shocks/struts, brakes, sway bar links, control arms, AC compressor, and purge valve. Mine is starting to rust on the rear fender wheel wells now.

My 2006 Escape Limited runs fine. Slight oil leak found in 2019, using high mileage oil stopped the leak. 225000km up today. Changed struts and shocks last year, feeling like a new.

Just purchased a 2014 Escape 1.6L with 100,000kms. VIN says no active recalls. Car complaints forum says to avoid it like the plague. I am stressed about this.

Those of you with 200k+ on yours, that's great? I'm impressed with how much care you must have put into it did you replace the transmission, engine, or other major components? Was the transmission recall repair free, and did it solve the problem? Steering or other.

I currently own a 2007 Ford Escape and just turned over 230,000 miles on original engine. It’s had regular oil changes, 4 sets of tires, 2 batteries. Just in the past week I had an alternator put in and a day later the air conditioning compressor went out. I won’t be paying for an ac compressor. All this to say our new 2007 Escape has been a dream.

2008 Ford Escape - 208,000 miles and had recall in 2014 on power steering sensor. Ford fixed recall, but in 2020 steering column assembly went bad. $2,800 fix at Ford dealer. Consumers filed litigation, but was unfounded. Ford failed to recall new issue even though power sensor in 2014 was an issue. Overall good vehicle, but expensive to fix the latest issue considering age and miles.

I have an 01 escape xlt with 305,000 miles and an 03 escape with 352,000 and they both still run fine. The 03 is the better running of the two but I'm the second owner and it's been meticulously taken care of. The 01was supposed to be a parts donor but ended up being a second vehicle to drive daily if needed. Great suv
