The 2017 Ford Explorer's key fob or transmitter battery can be changed by separating the back and front sides of the fob. Turn over the Explorer's key to locate a small switch at the top of the plastic panel. Depress with finger or a small flathead screwdriver to release. Remove the back of the fob to reveal a second panel equipped with a metal back-up key. Leverage this off with a coin or flathead screwdriver to gain access to two 3-volt batteries. The 3-volt CR2025's can be purchased from any general retailer and are the same batteries used in watches and small mechanical devices. Pop out the Explorer's two used CR2025's using the same flathead screwdriver and replace. Repeat steps in reverse order to close the remote.

To change the key fob battery on the 2017 Ford Explorer you will need to open the back cover. This can be done by sliding it off, though some will require it to be unscrewed. Once open you can then remove the battery and put a new one in. Then close it back up and you will be finished. A key fob will need a cr2025 battery, which will cost about 5 to 6 dollars on average.
