Changing the key fob battery for a Ford Escape is a very simple process that doesn't require any tools. You will need a CR2032 3V battery. They generally cost $5 to $7 on average. First, locate the switch on the back of the fob and slide it to the right to release the switch. This will allow You to separate the ignition key from the fob. Insert the narrow end of the key in the notch on the fob's left side. The Ford logo should be facing upward. This will pop the pieces apart so You can remove the back cover. Use the end of the key to pop the old battery out. Replace it with the new one. The positive side should be facing down. Put the fob back together and test it to make sure it works. You may need to reprogRam it.

Slide over the key release switch on the back of the fob, and then remove the metal ignition key. Insert the ignition key into the notch on the left with the ford logo facing the front, and then gently remove the back cover. Remove the old battery (it is in a circle shape), and then insert the new battery, and put the fob back together.
