Turning off the VSC in a Toyota Sequoia is relatively easy to do. The process will only take around 5 to 8 minutes of Your time. The first thing You need to know is that VSC stands for Vehicle Stability Control. Without it engaged, it is easy to slip in dangerous conditions, so always be aware of safety measures. Begin by making sure Your vehicle is no longer in motion, and move the shifter into Park. Next, locate the VSC button on Your display, and press it down. Hold it for a count of 4 or 5 seconds. Now You will notice that the VSC OFF and TRAC OFF indicators are both illuminated. Push down the VSC button one more time, and the system will reset.

My vsc and trac lights come while driving at high speed and 'breaks for me' with a grinding feeling. I slowly apply the breaks and slow down in response,...in an attempt to get the vehicle under control. I've tried to disengage the system by pressing and holding the vsc switch to 'off', which doesn't work. I'm trying to KEEP the system off (or at least off and on, as needed and as controlled by the vehicle when you turn the engine on and off) until I can get it looked at by a mechanic. BUT I need to drive it SAFELY in the mean time. HELP!!!

The button doesnt not work in 2wd to turn the vsc off. I am having the same issue with it coming on randomly and braking and grinding but only now that im towing something. Its very difficult to stop and get under control. So scary. And then the vsc off and trac lights stay illuminated until i turn off engine and back on. I wish I could turn it off too. Ive read its a sensor malfunction

To switch off both trac and vsc press and hold the button for three seconds. The indicators trac off and vsc off will show up. Push the switch to turn the system back on again. You can also switch the engine off and when you restart the engine, trac and vsc will come back on.

Vehicle Stability Control AKA "VSC" VSC is for later generations of Toyota Sequoias. 1st Gen (2001-2006) have the equivalent called "traction" with an ON & OFF button in the center of the dashboard next to the radio. VSC is the same thing. It is controlling the rotation speed of all the wheels and it is intended to stabilize your SUV during high speeds, sudden braking when the vehicle leans to one side or forward. It senses one wheel turning faster than the others or the opposite. It will spin a wheel even with your foot on the brake peddle in an attempt to stop the vehicle from ultimately rolling over! I would not disable that feature ever. 1st gen models will only disengage when the vehicle is below 5mph. It automatically turns on over that speed. Toyota Sequoias are in a group of SUV's with a short wheel base along with a tall roof that makes its center if gravity higher than common passenger cars. Therefore These vehicles have been known to roll over if the driver drives like an idiot and corners sharply at high speeds or brakes with the wheels turned sharply. Common sense is not so common apparently and people have rolled SUV's in the past. Newer models have the VSC, an Anti-skid feature made to stop the vehicle from doing that.
