If You want to learn how to pop open the Ford Escape, You're going to first open the driver's side car door. Once it is open, You're going to look at the left side footwell. You're going to see a small black lever. Pull on that level upwards towards You. As soon as You hear the hood pop. Walk over to the front of the vehicle. On the passenger's side of the vehicle, You're going to see a yellow latch. Pull the latch to the right and Your hood should pop open.

My problem was not locating the release inside the car but rather finding the latch under the hood. It is a bright yellow lever under the front of the hood on the passenger side. It releases very easily.

The hood release on a ford escape is located on the driver's side of the dashboard near the door hinges. Simply pull the release to unlock the hood.

From the interior, release the lever located near the driver side door on the dash of your ford escape, then go outside your vehicle and reach beneath the middle of the hood, raising it slightly so you can "pop" or release the catch.

Release the hood latch that is located in the footwell on the drivers side. Then release the safety latch that is located in the front of the car just under the hood.
