After You have maintenance work done to Your Honda Accord, the oil life light will need to be reset. Usually, the mechanic doing the oil change will reset the light for You. However, if they forget, or if You replace this fluid Yourself, You'll need to take care of it. The resetting process is very simple and only takes a couple minutes. Begin with the vehicle parked and all doors closed. Turn the key in the ignition on, but don't start the engine. You'll need to press the power button two times without putting Your foot on the brake, if You have an ignition button. Locate the home button in the left cluster of controls on the steering wheel. Press that and You'll open the main menu. Use the left selector wheel to find the wrench icon. That's the maintenance menu. Select MAINTENANCE and use the left selector wheel again to choose the menu option. Hold that button down again for the system to enter the reset mode. When the remaining engine oil life appears, let go of the button and then press it again for about 10 seconds. Scroll through the list of maintenance options and select which one You are resetting.

To reset the oil life in a honda accord, turn the ignition to on without starting the vehicle. Press the select knob and find engine oil life. Once there, press and hold the knob again for 10 seconds. The display should blink. When this happens, release the knob, press it again, and hold it for 5 more seconds.
