The FIAT 500's driver information display may experience a flashing mileage gauge if there is miscommunication between the vehicle's various modules. The FIAT's odometer will illuminate intermittently if the information used to inform the gauge is unclear or cannot be accurately transmitted. Most often the condition is caused by a battery operating on a low voltage or one that has been incorrectly jumped recently. To perform a reset, disconnect the positive and then the negative battery cables. Leave the battery unpowered for at least 5 minutes and then re-connect. If the procedure fails to reset module and odometer communication, schedule an appointment with an authorized dealership for a "configuration alignment."

Tried everything for my partners 500 , phoned a Fiat dealership and they quoted £500 just to stick the configure machine on then said it could cost a further £700 to put right , the moral being , Dont buy a Fiat 500

My fiat 500 had a flashing milage and regular battery drain. Went flat even when I bought new ones.Garage diagnosed failure of the Bluetooth module. They can fix it. If your Blue and Me doesn't work that can be repaired or renewed. I took it to a regular garage... Not dealership.

Usually an easy fix. May be caused by a bad or wrong battery fitted. Stop start vehicles require a stop start battery, slightly more expensive,but worth the extra money

Possible broken wire on the tailgate wiring harness causing feedback & draining the battery, symptoms are the tailgate sometimes won't open then eventually not open at all.

The airbag ECU will have to be removed and the appropriate circuits repaired.
