There unfortunately is not any long term solution to turn off the auto start stop in a Buick Enclave. The only way that it can be temporarily disabled is by starting the vehicle and opening the hood, then closing it. This will make the car's ECU think that someone is inspecting the motor and will leave the engine on. There are some third party devices out there that can plug into Your vehicle's OBD II port and trick Your ECU into thinking that the hood is open as well. GM has decided that they want the auto start stop feature to be enabled on all of their vehicles permanently because it can help increase fuel economy and cut down on emissions.

Buick Manufactures is working towards a click to uninstall it, but it is never completely disabled. Each time you start the engine, you have to push the click.

"GM has decided that they want the auto start stop feature to be enabled on all of their vehicles permanently because it can help increase fuel economy and cut down on emissions." That's all fine and good til you have to replace a starter!

Or until there is someone in a accident because you might have to move quickly out of the way of another vehicle coming.

I have run the numbers and on average it saves no fuel. None. Just puts wear on an expensive starter and annoys the heck out of the driver.

I’m about to buy a ‘21 Enclave and I got a stop/start eliminator cord/plug. Anyone know if it will really work? Or do I need to pay $10K more for a ‘22 with a button to turn it off?

Just bought a 2018 enclave. This feature is annoying but love the my enclave. Wouldn’t trade it because it is a very comfortable and sleek ride.

Most annoying feature ever developed and put on a car! What bleeding heart thought of this? Hopefully FORDnever does this! If it’s a way to save fuel come up with a better engine and plan!

Between the auto on/off and the electric gear shift i'm not sure which makes my 2021 enclave much less attractive than the 2015 that we loved

I just let the brake off and quickly reapply it. It stays idling normally until traffic lets up, or the light changes.

Yes you save $50 in gasoline and end up spending $300 for another battery. What genius thought this up?

I bought a 2020 Enclave in the summer. I was not aware that it had this auto off feature until months later when I wasn’t using the A/C. I would not have bought the car had I known that. It is SO ANNOYING!

On my 2020 Enclave with no button to turn it off I put the transmission in manual and use + paddle on steering wheel to the highest gear. Mine is 9. This disables auto start/stop however each time you put in drive you have to repeat procedure. You get used to it though and it stops that annoying Start/Stop BS.

This is single handedly the beginning g of the end for Auto companies. Thinking they know what is best for us. 1st car ever that I have been in that cannot be simply overridden with a button!
