The EVAP cannister of a vehicle is a key part of its emissions system and in the 2004 Chevy TrailBlazer it should be installed under the truck on the drivers side near the rear tires. If You've noticed the "check engine" light coming on, a strong fuel smell from the rear of the Trailblazer, poor fuel economy or leaks, the EVAP cannister may be damaged or need replacing. As part of the emissions system it prevents harmful gas vapors from escaping by absorbing them inside the canister with activated charcoal, before fumes are vacuumed by the engine into the intake manifold. EVAP replacement on a Chevy TrailBlazer costs between $300-$400 in parts and labor.

The evap canister, other wise known as the purge valve, on the 2004 Chevy trailblazer is located above the rear of the muffler.
