Resetting the security system in Your Honda CR-V is very easy to do. It will only take around 3 to 5 minutes to complete. The first thing You will need to do is position Yourself on the driver's side of Your vehicle. Make sure that all of the doors are firmly closed. Now, insert Your key into the driver's side door lock. Unlock it by turning to the right, then turn it back to the locked position. Immediately, turn the key back to the right, or unlocked, position. The anti-theft light will turn off, and Your security system will now be fully reset.

2003 CRV. New battery put in, alarm went off, couldn't turn off. Eventually stopped. But once I lock with fob and/or key after 5-10 seconds the alarm starts for approx 20 seconds and then stops. How do I sort out the alarm and is this draining my new battery? Thanks.

To reset the anti-theft alarm system on your honda crv, turn the key in the driver's door to unlock it, then turn it to the locked position and then once again to open position. The light should disable itself.

After doing research on my 2017 Honda CRV alarm system. I followed the instructions on this web page. I reset my alarm system with my ignition key by inserting it in the driver side door.(Right,Left,Right). The solution worked perfectly.

Okay, purchased a beat up 2002 CRV, the drivers door lock has never worked in the time we have owned it. Now it hasn’t been driven much lately, now that our other car is in the shop we tried to fall back on the CRV. But it won’t start the horn just honks non stop. How can we reset this?

I am having the same issue. I followed the procedure correctly and theft light will not go out and our 2007 CRV will not start. Sad how Honda has declined. We are getting this Honda towed to a Ford dealer for a trade in. I am Done will hondas poor quality!

I took my 2009 CRV for the airbag recall. I found out that the heater pipe had a small hole which was leaking antifreeze. I replaced the heater pipe, I replaced the thermostat housing and the thermostat as well as all new hoses. Then I noticed the AC compressor had a crack in it and the pulley wouldn't turn. I bought a brand new AC compressor with the pulley and I bought a brand new serpentine belt. Everything is completely put back together and I made sure that I did the correct torque setting for the plenum and the throttle body. It's been 3 weeks and I still cannot get the car to start. Which is funny because it was never broke down in the first place I just wanted to replace old parts and now it will not start. The engine cranks over and over and over and over again but will not turn over completely. I'm completely out of loss for words so if anybody can enlighten me with what the hell is going on I would very much appreciate it.

The problem is that Honda doesnt own up to their mistakes to go back and fix these common issues for consumers. The corrupted governments allow them to use the money off sales to continue creating more vehicles instead of working full time staffs that can diagnose and fix Hondas common engineering problems for free.

The problem is often a low battery in the key fob. Replace the battery and see if that helps. Also, turning the key left and right is part of the solution, but my AAA guy told me today that I need to do that 10 TIMES !!! Not just once or twice. It worked for him today. This is for my 2008 Honda CRV.

Didn't work on my 2017 CR-V EX-L, unless my symptoms aren't from the anti-theft system.
