While the 2000 Ford F-250 7.3L Diesel engine can tow quite a bit, Your realistic number is going to be just a bit lower. Ford famously claimed (and proved) that the truck was capable of towing a Boeing 747 -- but don't expect this on long interstate trips. Theoretically, You should be able to tow around 15,000 pounds. Realistically, You won't hit more than 50 miles per hour up a slight grade hill without Your transmission overheating. Power really isn't the issue here, since Your F-250 has plenty of it. Heat generation is the main thing. If You're driving slowly for fewer than 20 miles, Your capacity is going to sit around 16,000 pounds. If You're driving at highway speeds for greater than 50 miles, Your realistic towing capacity is more like 12,000 pounds.

I towed with my 2000 ford f250 super duty 20000lbs and it did a solid 65 with no problem and had no overheating issue
