While many drivers admit to carrying up to 300 pounds on their Toyota 4Runner roof rack regularly, this isn't advisable. I can also find anecdotal accounts of someone loading up to 600 pounds of static weight. However, guidance from Toyota says that the posted limit -- 120 pounds -- should not be modified or altered with aftermarket equipment. In my professional opinion, You should abide by that. It partially comes down to the fact that Toyota will not honor warranty claims if the driver has loaded over 120 pounds. The bigger part comes down to the danger You put the drivers behind You in when You choose to overload Your roof rack. I'm going to recommend sticking witH120, but if You decide to go a little higher, just know that You won't be the first.
