The fuel filter in a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 is located in the fuel tank in the assembly with the fuel sending unit. This unit has both Your pump and Your filter in it and it is dropped in from the cap that is on the top of the tank. In the past fuel filters were found in line on the bottom of the vehicle but manufactures found this to be a source of fuel leaks so they moved them to be in the tank. If You notice that You have low fuel pressure one of the first things to check is the filter. When the fitler becomes clogged with debris it can lead to it not allowing enough fuel through to reach Your injectors.

At about 40 to 50 mph I see the engine rpm go up a little and the engine ramps up a little my first though was transmission i hope i am wrong. I was thinking fuel injectors or fuel filter ??? If just does that for short time like 10 to 15 seconds but will do it again in a few minutes.
