The fuel filter on the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee can be found underneath the vehicle in front of the gas tank on the driver's side. Fuel filters should be replaced every 40,000 - 80,000 miles. Here's a look at some signs of a fuel filter problem. Your engine may struggle to start, Your car may not even start at all, or You may have a rough idle. If Your car struggles to get up to speed as You drive through the city, this could be another sign that You have a partially-blocked fuel filter. Without the filter, Your fuel could end up tainted by all kinds of crud, including dirt and paint chips. Not only does the filter help to shield Your fuel pump and injectors, but it also plays a significant role in ensuring that You are achieving the highest fuel-efficiency possible.

OI could not locate a filter outside of the tank on any part of the fuel line. My 2005 Jeep Cherokee Loredo, 6 cylinder. No doubt, it is a fuel sock on the pick-up inside the gas tank.
