The Nissan Rogue transmission fluid type and capacity is valvoline cvt and 7 to 9 quarts. The transmission fluid needs to be replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Along with fluid changes, terrible sounds will come from the transmission. Old transmission fluid will be awful to the ear. A worn out torque converter will cause a headache. The transmission is one of the most crucial parts of the vehicle. You will come into issues at some point. Hard shifts could come up and that is not good. You may experience shudders. The gears may become stuck. There might be jerking. If the transmission fluid leaks, that needs to be fixed quickly. Delayed shifts will cause acceleration issues. The transmission might slip.

Owners manual doesn’t give the capacity it only gives type NS-2 Nissan Specific I drained on level surface 4 full Quarts came out I put the same amount back in I got no reading on dip stick until I put a 5th quart in the reading was still below xxxxx level on dip stick indicating possible 6th Quart was needed.

Putting too much fluid in your transmission will be the end of your transmission. The fluid does not evaporate. There's a method to changing it, which requires removing the pan, changing the strainer filter, removing the four bolts on the side to expose the canister filter. You should measure what you take out and put the same back in. It's hard to find even the pan gasket locally, likely Nissan's way of making sure the car owners don't mess with it too much. I don't even mess with the filters. If I dream three and a half quarts, I add three and a half quarts. Once refilled, it is necessary to put the vehicle in PRND four five seconds each, at least three times, while engine running, foot on the brake. Then test drive. For those of you putting too much transmission fluid in, and hopefully you're using the right kind, the hard to find ns-2, while the vehicle is running on a level surface, the plug just above the drain plug needs to be unscrewed, fluid allowed to pour out until it gets to a dribble for 2 seconds then plug it. Good luck! My rogue has 153,000 mi and no issues.
