The 2004 Chevy Silverado was not equipped with a cabin air filter from the factory. There are aftermarket kits available that would allow a cabin air filter to be retrofitted into it. In order to do that You will need A7-millimeter socket and ratchet to remove the three bolts that hold the cover over the HVAC housing. Once this cover is removed it's clear to see where the cabin air filter should be, but the access panel is molded into the housing and will need to be cut out in order to fit a filter. You can use a utility blade or a Dremel like tool to cut away the plastic so the filter can go up inside.

The cabin air filter for the 2004 model silverado is located behind the glove compartment. You will need to fully remove the glove compartment to access it.

2003-2004 Z 71 Avalanche does NOT have an inside cabin air filter. Don't waist your time removing the glove box.
