The fuel filter on a 2004 Chevy Tahoe with the 4.8L engine can be found on the driver's side of the frame rail. The fuel lines run along the frame rail here and the filter is screwed in to these lines to help clean the fuel. The main job of this filter is to remove any contaminants from the fuel before they travel all the way through Your lines and to Your engine. If debris gets into the engine it could cause permanent damage. When You notice that the fuel pressure is low on Your SUV You should check this filter because it could be clogged and restricting the flow of gasoline to the engine and that will be noticeable while You drive.
