There are four oxygen sensors that are located on the Ford Escape, all of them are located on the exhaust. Two of them are located before the catalytic converter, and the other two are located after it. They are used to measure the air to fuELRatio of the exhaust gasses, they also make sure that the catalytic converter is working. The sensors are an integral part of Your engine because they are able to control the fuel and air levels that go into Your engine. If one of them fails You will likely notice that Your engine runs poorly and may stall while You are driving. If one of them ever has problems You will get a check engine light on Your dash.

The oxygen sensors in a ford escape are under the hood or underneath the vehicle. On 1995 and older models, the sensor is found in the exhaust manifold or the front exhaust pipe near the manifold. There is one oxygen sensor in the four cylinder and two sensors (one for each engine bank) in most v6 and v8 models. From 1996 to current models, most cars have 2-5+ oxygen sensors. They are located behind or in front of the catalytic converter, connected to the exhaust pipe.
