The Ford Transit features a gas tank on the drivers side of the van inside driver's door frame. When re-fueling the door must be open. You'll see a slender elongated panel on the outside of the Transit that can be opened by placing a finger under a tab and pulling. The gas cap features a secure spring-loaded opening that is self-closing and does not require releasing. To fill, insert the fuel nozzle until the nozzle shuts off. Wait 10 seconds to allow residual gas to drain out. Replace the door by snapping into place. The Ford Transit holds roughly 26 gallons of regular unleaded or diesel fuel. If diesel equipped, a lower door is supplied for adding diesel exhaust fluid.

The fuel tank can be found directly next to the driver side door.
