The Toyota Corolla speed sensor can be found in the rear area of the transmission. It would normally be in the extension housing. The sensor can not be directly pulled out without first removing the bolt and two wire connectors attached to it. When the speed sensor goes bad, the car starts to have issues like the gear shifting incorrectly. This could lead to a jerky operation. Features of the car like cruise control will also be disabled and not work. Your check engine light will come on when this sensor goes out, so if Your check engine is not on, then the sensor might not be responsible for Your issue.
