The most common reason for tail lights to stop working on a Ford F-150 is a blown fuse. There are multiple fuse boxes, but the one You're looking for is in the passenger cabin beneath and to the left of the steering column. You can find a diagram on the inside cover of the box. Make sure You replace it with one of the same amperage. A burnt out bulb is the next most common reason. The easiest way to tell if this is the problem is to remove the bulb and inspect the filament. A bad relay is the next most common cause. When this fails, the connection between the battery and taillights is interrupted. This generally happens because a wire is not grounded properly. Lastly, it could be the tail light switch. You need to pull out the assembly to inspect it in this case.

The fuse to check when tail ligtt he’s don’t work, but the brake lights and signal lights work is 22,30 & 40 in passenger cabin fuse box. My 22 was the one for me, but have read 30 & 40 are also possible. No one mentioned 22 except one post from years ago. That was the one for me. I know this is old post, but maybe it will help someone. Good luck!

Appears to have been the rear ground at the hitch. Clean all the connections of the two pieces and the bolt and the frame with sandpaper and wire wheel, or whatever it takes to get surfaces clean. I had to turn on the ignition several times and then all worked fine.

Had this issue on my ‘16 F-150. After hours of checking fuses and grounds, I found the issue. The blue wire at the pigtail location at the back of the vehicle had come unattached from the interior of the pigtail. You have to use a fine pick to get it fished back into the connector and re-crimped with said pick. It’s a very tedious process. I’m glad that’s over.

Me and my brother checked every fuse under the hood, and under the glove box on the passenger side, none were blown. Weeks previous we pulled out the taillights to check the bulbs and wire connections with no issues. Finally looked under the bed and saw that the ground was barely hanging on the chassis which is why my tailights and blinker would randomly stop working. As far as I know everything is working again. 2020 f150

On the ford f-150 if the tail lights are not working you may have a blown fuse.

Same found both trailer lights and all rear lights on the truck were not working. On passenger side the bolt is on the inside of the frame on drivers side for trailer lighting on the outside of the frame. Neither give a code or fault at the dash, until you connect a trailer than it says check brake module.

I had this issue and chased the problem for a while. It ended up being the taillight bulb socket was bad.
