Alex Showalter
Sep 4, 2023

The 2019 Buick Enclave lasts around 200,000 miles with some relatively minor check engine light and stereo system issues found. At $22,550 to $40,850, it’s a decent value for a practical luxury SUV.

VehicleHistory Image
likeFilled The Good
There’s a good amount of cargo space, the standard stereo system is excellent and the suspension is smooth on rough roads.
dislikeFilled The Bad
The interior is not as fancy as some other luxury SUVs, the safety tech is only offered on the most expensive models and there’s some road noise.

Is the 2019 Buick Enclave a Good Used SUV?

  • Overall Rating 8/10 – 2019 is a decent year for the Buick Enclave since it offers a nice mix of luxury paired with good passenger room. Owner reviews praise the second row captain’s chairs, reliable V6 engine, along with the smooth suspension.
  • Interior, Comfort & Cargo 8/10 – Interior materials are reasonably nice for a midsize SUV, the seats are supportive on longer drives, cargo space is also good for its size.

Buick enclave for families.
Tons of storage and ready to roll and fast, lots of power, all wheel drive works great. Interior is sharp and clean and comfortable and has room for seven which is great for our family and dogs. Love the look and use it to tow a trailer all the time with no problems.

Captains chairs are great.
Dependable vehicle. Great for the snow. Plenty of room for storage and stowing. Attractive car. Good on gas. Lots of features, stowaway seats, comfortable. Reliable, especially in the winter. Lots of legroom. Heated seats are great for the winter. Great speakers.

Comfort and performance of the Buick enclave.
Performance and reliability are great and no problems in those areas. It rides very smoothly and is great for travel. It has leather interior, heated seats, and a back-up camera. The only problem, in my opinion, is that it has no CD player - just an am/FM radio.

The interior is a beautiful black and I love it.
I am absolutely obsessed with the interior of my vehicle. It is so beautiful and it runs so nicely. I have had very little problems with my car. I had an issue with the tire but that was my own fault. I would suggest this car to everyone. Nice family car too.

Fantastic car 10/10 would recommend.
Really lovely vehicle, drives really well and great gas mileage. Lots of fantastic features including a back up camera which is a life saver. Has lots of room for the family and fur babies while still having plenty of storage room. I would for sure recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Buick enclave beautiful however, no extra cargo with third row.
Bought this vehicle for more room and having extra seats is nice but there is no room for cargo. My stroller does not fit in the back without putting a seat down. However, besides having the seating space and the cargo space the car itself is a smooth ride.

Buick enclave avenir: review from a mom who is on the road a lot.
Do not like how the vehicle shuts off when you are stopped; I would like the ability to disable this feature. Small problems like door lock jamming and sunshade clip breaking (both under 12000 miles). Size of the car is good but it is not as comfortable as my previous vehicle (Lincoln MKC).

What Do Critics Say About the Buick Enclave?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2019 Buick Enclave has the core features that buyers are looking for in a luxury SUV, with good owner satisfaction scores as it ages.
  • Edmunds gives the 2019 Enclave a 3.4/5, enjoying the smooth suspension, but doesn’t like the lower fuel economy than some competitors.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Enclave a 4.4/5, praising the modern interior for an SUV, but owners don’t like the lack of standard safety technology features.

What Common Problems Does the 2019 Buick Enclave Have?

Common problems found on the 2019 Buick Enclave include check engine lights, the stereo system freezing, along with trouble folding the rear seats. Overall, these problems are similar to some other midsize SUVs on the market, leading to average repair costs as the Enclave ages.

Check engine lights are the most widespread complaint on the 2019 Enclave, showing up within the first 5,000 miles. To diagnose the source of the problem, you will need to use an OBD-II scan tool to read the code stored in the computer. The most common reason the light will turn on is due to a loose gas cap, but it can also be a sign of sensor or electrical problems as well.

The stereo system freezing has also been reported by some 2019 Enclave owners at around 1,000 miles. There are software updates available for the stereo system which improves its reliability. Most dealerships will install these updates for free, while others charge around $50 for labor.

Trouble folding the rear seats is another problem mentioned by some 2019 Enclave owners. It’s common on models with a power folding third row. If there is anything left on the seat, or debris in the hinge then the seats will lock up when trying to fold flat. Inspecting and cleaning out the seat is the first step. If the area is clear then there may be an electric motor issue which costs around $250 to fix.

There’s only one recall on the 2019 Buick Enclave, which is better than a lot of other luxury SUVs on the market. The recall covers missing bolts on the start/stop accumulator which can lead to a transmission fluid leak. Buick will replace the bolts on affected models for free.

How Long Will the 2019 Buick Enclave Last?

A well-maintained 2019 Buick Enclave can last around 200,000 miles, which is shorter than other midsize SUVs like the Toyota Highlander. Regular annual maintenance costs are slightly higher than average, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $700 per year.

As a used 2019 Enclave reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history owners should be prepared to replace the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor for $240, the camshaft position sensor costing $375, along with the alternator which costs around $700.

accountCircle Deborah S

I have only owned this Buick for about two months, but all the reviews I read before purchasing it were great. I think it is very reliable.

accountCircle James M

Buicks in our experience are the most reliable we have leased and will probably release later. They are definitely a quality vehicle.

How Is the Technology?

Entertainment technology is great for a midsize SUV in its price range, offering a standard 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Optional upgrades include a premium Bose stereo system.

Standard safety technology is fairly basic and comes with a rearview camera and rear parking sensors.

There are a lot of optional driver assistance features which include:

  • 360-degree surround-view parking camera
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Lane change alert
  • Forward collision warning
  • Full-speed automatic emergency braking
  • Following distance indicator
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Lane departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Rear camera mirror
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Low-speed automatic emergency braking
  • Front pedestrian braking
  • Safety alert seat which vibrates when a hazard is detected
  • Active lane keep assist
  • Front parking sensors

Is the 2019 Buick Enclave a Good Value?

Yes, the 2019 Buick Enclave is a decent value since it offers improved reliability from earlier years and is paired with a practical cabin. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $22,550 to $40,850, making it less than a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Volkswagen Atlas. When new, the price range was $40,000 to $55,800. Depreciation is worse than some competitors, losing about 15% of its current value per year.

What are the Different Models of the Buick Enclave?

There are four main models of the 2019 Buick Enclave offered from the entry-level Preferred, all the way up to the more luxurious Avenir. The Enclave comes standard with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is available as an optional upgrade.

What Engines Come In the Buick Enclave?

The Buick Enclave has a 3.6-liter V6 engine which produces 310 horsepower and 266 lb.-ft of torque at up to 21 MPG. This engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Regarding performance, this engine can sprint from 0-60 MPH in roughly 6.5 seconds. For those with towing needs, the Enclave, when properly equipped, boasts a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds, making it suitable for hauling small trailers or boats.

What Colors Does the Buick Enclave Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Buick Enclave?

The 2019 Buick Enclave is renowned for its comfort and premium interior accommodations. Designed with passengers in mind, the Enclave boasts a spacious and luxurious cabin that provides ample legroom and headroom for all three rows. Seating surfaces are upholstered with high-quality materials, guaranteeing that both short trips and long journeys are pleasant for all occupants. The vehicle’s suspension is finely tuned to absorb road imperfections, delivering a smooth and stable ride even on uneven surfaces.

Furthermore, Buick has incorporated advanced noise-cancellation technologies, resulting in a remarkably quiet interior, free from the distractions of road and wind noise. Tri-zone automatic climate control, along with ventilated and heated seats in certain trims, add to the comfort level, providing a cozy environment regardless of external weather conditions. With its combination of a serene cabin environment, plush seating, and advanced amenities, the 2019 Buick Enclave stands out as a beacon of comfort in its class.

How Much Storage Space Does the Buick Enclave Have?

The 2019 Buick Enclave offers generous storage space tailored to accommodate the needs of families and individuals alike. With all seats in place, the Enclave provides 23.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row. This space is ample for daily errands, allowing room for grocery bags, a stroller, or a couple of suitcases. If you fold down the third-row seats, the cargo space expands to an impressive 58 cubic feet, which can comfortably hold larger items like bicycles or larger luggage pieces.

For those times when maximum storage space is required, such as during a move or transporting bigger items, folding down both the second and third rows will yield a cavernous 97.6 cubic feet of space. In this configuration, the Enclave can handle furniture pieces, numerous large boxes, or even bigger outdoor gear like kayaks with ease. The versatility of the 2019 Buick Enclave’s cargo space makes it a great option for various transportation needs.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The second generation of the Buick Enclave was launched for the 2018 model year.

2015: No changes from earlier years.

2016: Improved OnStar with 4G LTE WiFi along with the Tuscan Edition which has exterior changes.

2017: No remarkable changes from the 2016 model.

2018: Fully redesigned for the second generation with new engines, styling, and technology features.

2019: New front-wheel drive only Preferred model launched below the Essence model.

2020: Small changes to the individual options packages.

2021: No major changes from other years.

How Does the Buick Enclave Compare to the Competition?

The 2019 Buick Enclave is a decent midsize luxury SUV offering a nice interior and plenty of passenger room, although some of the ownership costs are higher than in the competition.

The Honda Pilot is another midsize SUV available in the same price range. Interior materials are more luxurious in the Buick Enclave, while the Honda Pilot offers more passenger room in the second and third rows. We recommend the Honda Pilot since it has lower ownership costs as it ages.

The Chevy Traverse is a slightly larger SUV which costs about $2,500 less. Passenger room is better in the Chevy Traverse, especially in the third row, while the Buick Enclave offers more luxurious interior materials. We recommend the Chevy Traverse since it’s more practical, although both are very similar in terms of reliability making them worth a test drive to see which you prefer.

Powerful & Sophisticated
We love our New Enclave Avenir. It's quiet, powerful and loaded with options like Bose speaker system, front and rear heated seats, 20 inch wheels, 5000 lb towing and 310hp. We love the smooth quiet ride and the interior room. We love the exterior design. It looks like a much more high end vehicle than the previous Enclaves. It has plenty of power under the hood and passing gear throughs you back in the seat. Cons: The automatic high beam lights are annoying. They turn on automatically in town and that is annoying to other drivers. The vehicle sometimes shuts off completely at stop lights and you actually hear it start again and it hesitates before it takes off again.

I love the design and vehicle quietness. Good mpg and lot's of performance. Nice inside amenities and great vehicle driver information center. Lot's of added safety features make this vehicle a pleasure to drive. The seat comfort with eight different seat positions make this very comfortable to adjust it to any person's comfort zone. Added features of heated seats and air cooled seats make riding in the seat very comfortable during all climatic conditions. I do genuinely love this car. The only thing I can think of that is a little frustrating at times is that the drivers side rear bucket seat does not have a handle on the side to move it up and forward to make easier to get in/out the back or get cargo in. Likely a safety feature so kids do not get out on the traffic side but frustrating.

Comfortable, great sound system by Bose, roomy, and can load a lot when third row seats are down. The lights inside come on at night so there’s a little light to see inside car. Moonroof and sunroof great. Quiet and smooth ride. Love the self start.

My vehicle is sharp looking and a great family SUV.
There is not much wrong with my vehicle. I wouldn't mind some more features but I am sure that comes with the next package. I do have issues using the kick motion to open and shut the back hatch. I would also like if I didn't have to plug the phone is to use apple CarPlay.

My Buick Enclave Experience
I love the Buick Enclave. The car drives and handles very well. It has heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel and lane assist. It is a very comfortable ride, I take it on all my long distance road trips. It has 3rd row seats. Gets good gas mileage.

Buick enclave beautiful however, no extra cargo with third row.
Bought this vehicle for more room and having extra seats is nice but there is no room for cargo. My stroller does not fit in the back without putting a seat down. However, besides having the seating space and the cargo space the car itself is a smooth ride.

Spacious, smooth, comfortable.
I really have not have any problems per day, it is great on gas and I love the encore feature. The brakes are really good and it drives smoothly overall. I feel like I can really rely on this vehicle at all times. Its sporty but spacious. Took a ride to Myrtle Beach last weekend and it was very comfortable. 3 people and a puppy who rode inside of a crate.

The good and bad about the 2019 Buick enclave.
My necklace drives great, it is very smooth. The tires are larger which makes for the smooth ride but will be more expensive to replace. It is easy to get in and out of. I do not like the gear shift, it is difficult to shift and unlike any I have ever used. It sometimes will not smoothly shift into neutral, this is especially annoying at a carwash. It does not have a CD player, therefore you have to sync it with your phone to play music or listen to books. It is very comfortable for road trips, and has a lot of space. The passenger seat is very comfortable as well.

Perfect mix of luxury and conservative.
It is very reliable. Gas/mileage affordable, even though, I consider the gas tank to be small for the size of this SUV. Seats for the whole family. Lot of space at the back to move big things. Seats are very comfortable. The 3rd row can be a little bit tight.

I am proud to drive this quality beautiful SUV.
Very good looking vehicle and performs very well. Good gas, roomy and has a ton of special features. People often stop to admire. Very good selection of colors available, has very comfortable leather seats, and a lot of legroom. I owned a previous 2015 Buick and was also happy with it..

So comfortable and spacious!
I love my car so much that this is my 2nd enclave. It is comfortable and spacious for my growing children. I also love that it is large enough for company to ride with us. It is especially nice on long exhausting trips. It rides so smooth with little road noise.
