It takes a lot of gas to travel but it is very comfortable.
I like that I can fit people in the back . The back seat are big enough for adults and children. My dislike is that it is older car.

I like that it is roomy. I hate that its so old because its a hassle to fix every time something goes wrong. I love the fact that it is reliable. I hate the color of it i wish we would have gotten a different vehicle. It is worth the price we paid.
It is great for road trips whether they are hwy or off road. Just be prepared to pay a lot in gas.

A truck that looks like an SUV that has the back cut off.
Oil gadget is broken, tailgate handle broke, air conditioning doesn't work, has front end problems, has a lifter tick, the bed is to small, back seat is too small, electrical is messed up the electric adjustable seats don't work and neither do the heated seats.

It has no a/c that works whatsoever.
It is "theoretically" amazing in concept. However it has had serious issues.

Great, Affordable, Family Sized Truck
The Chevy Avalanche is a reliable truck, good for a family or single person use. The cab is roomy and the bed is decent; but could be longer. We have leather interior which has worn slowly over the years. With regular maintenance, the engine has proven to be powerful & durable.

Very reliable and durable.
I have had the truck for 13 years and recently had issues with the bearings. Other than that no other major issues.

I love the size. But what i dislike is the bed cover on the back It's too complicated.

Very comfortable truck with leather seats, seat heater, power windows and locks,
Definitely one of the more comfortable vehicles I have owned, esp for longer road trips, decent mpg, very few issues or repairs needed in the 5 years I've owned it. Lots of room/leg room, decent storage in center console, love the seat heaters in the winter!

The good the bad and the ugly of my 2004 avalanche.
I really love my truck and being up higher and being able to see better. Being able to haul things when needed that you can't in a car. It has had several recalls the first few years after I purchased that was a problem.. A bad seatbelt in the backseat that I had to get fixed. Just replaced wheel bearings in front left. It had air conditioner problems that seems to stem from a design problem..Had to have that fixed several times.. Another time it was another air conditioner problem.

2004 Chevy avalanche garage kept
My Chevy avalanche truck, was purchased in 2008. I only use it for the cold winter months. It has 92,000 miles while being garage kept. There is nothing wrong with my vehicle.

It has a lot of room for a family of 5 that's suites me very well
I keep up with all the maintenance on it and it runs real good

I love that my truck is unique and seats firmly 7 people. It will convert.
I totally love my truck. It gives me minor problems. Only problems I have truly is it is a gas drinker. My truck is very reliable and comfortable to seat my big family. I rarely have any engine problems other spark plugs need replacing or oil changes. Basic things are needed but I live my truck.

It's 14 years old and still going strong! It's built really well. It has rusted out in a few spots and some of the rust has been repaired already.
It rides really well... Like a nice car. It has a lot of room in the back seat, very spacious. It's a big vehicle so I feel safe.
accountCircle Dan C on November 25, 2020
A lot of space in the cabin of the truck.
I like the roominess of the cab space. I have used the removable back window next to the bed of the truck. My only complaints right now are the steel brake lines that have rusted through.

2004 Chevy avalanche 2500.
I have had some electrical issues including the gauge cluster, the lighted radio control button on the steering wheel do not light, other lights on dash do not work, the transfer case went out and had to be replace, poor gas mileage but the vehicle is the 2500 with 8. 1l engine, great power comfort on road.
accountCircle Emily H on October 21, 2020
It is roomy and the covered bed is great.
The only problem that I have had is the instrument cluster. My year had a factory defect. Otherwise, I have loved this truck.
accountCircle Heidi M on August 16, 2020
You can extend the length of the truck bed!
It rusts underneath very easily but I never really had any other issues with it. I love these trucks and will be buying another one! Never had issues with the motor but did replace it with a motor I wanted specifically. Still runs like a beast! I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone.

The blower fan is likely to go out.
I like how its is not to high from the grown. The amount of room inside is nice. However the constant repairs is annoying.

Avalanche--a great vehicle
My Avalanche handles very well. It's very practical in that it easily carries five passengers, and can convert to a pick up truck. It has a powerful engine and it's very comfortable.

It was dependable when younger.
It is old & needs work. Maintenance is on the expensive side. Starting to show a lot of rust. Transmission went as well.

That the bed cover is super easy to use and keeps what I put in the back dry.
I like the color. I like the 3 panel bed cover. I like the sun roof. I like the leather heated seats.

Overall Chevy avalanche looks great as well as it performs, strong, reliable.
Our Chevy avalanche is our most reliable truck, a lot of gas consumption but overall very strong engine horsepower. The mileage is 25, 000 although I am sad to be informed that Chevy has stopped making the avalanche models. Cloth fabric seats great for both winter and summer. 2004 Model may be old but it sure does handle the job of carrying and lifting cargo just as much as any other current model trucks.

Reliability and comfort and economy.
I about 140, 000 miles on the truck. It runs great and I get about 17 mpg on average. The gas gauge has recently stopped working but the is it. I think the console is a little too wide. I am a big and would like another few inches of legroom.
accountCircle George M on April 16, 2020
Excellent rider and well worth the money.
Love that it will haul anything that I want without a problem and that it is very comfortable to take long trips in. Has never given me a problem or needed any major problems and needed only regular maintenance. I also like that I have never gotten stuck in the snow with it.

My truck has very bad gas mileage on it. I wish I could find something to help with the problem. It's a good truck, I need new tires and it just got a oil change!
Everyone can hydroplane which means be very cautious when driving through rain and through puddles all it takes is a little bit.

Interesting cargo options.
So far it has been very reliable. The interior has seating for 6 people. The v8 engine runs very smooth along with the 4 wheel drive system. The best feature is the storage on each side of the bed along with the extra cargo space by removing the back window and laying the seats down.
accountCircle Ryan D on March 9, 2020
It's a great vehicle that's not too bad on fuel mileage.
I love it because of its versatility. Can seat 5 people or lower the back seat to make a full size bed. The only complaint is that the window motors had to be replace 4 times. I wish a few things were made a little more heavy duty.

Appreciate the beauty of the Chevrolet avalanche.
I bought the vehicle used what made it attractive to me was the roar of the engine it is comfortable smooth drive the adjustability of it all either driving it or riding it is all around attractive. But recently I have had to replace the transmission, after changing the transmission fluid it ran fine till it didn't.

The 2004 Chevy Avalanche 2x2
The Avalanche brings the utility of a truck and keeps the comfort of a passenger car. The covered bed allows you to carry items and keep them from being exposed to the elements.

It is a reliable vehicle. Keeping it has been a good decision. We have over 200k miles on it.
The Avalanche is 12 years old. As far as dependability, it is great. We have had weekly issues with the oil pressure sensor and it is very annoying when it continues to sound the sensor alarm. It does not get good gas mileage as well, usually no more than 26 mpg.

Dependable durable well made. If I had a pick it would be better gas mileage, in particular freeway mileage. Definitely could have made it more fuel friendly.

Back panel comes out, awesome motor, can do a lot of mods.
Transmission and transfer case will go out within the first 2-3 years. I recommend to go ahead and replace it. The motor is a very good motor. The skins will actually come off n love the fact that I have 2 toolboxes and that the back panel comes out making it have much more room.

It is multifunctional and gets good gas mileage for such a large vehicle.
I love my Avalanche because it is multifunctional. You can haul anything and I can take my German shepherd with me. The only thing I do not like is that I have to use a ramp for my dog to get in now that he is 8 years old.

Chevy avalanche combines the best features of a sedan and a pickup truck.
My avalanche combines the best features of a car and a pickup truck. It sits lower to the ground than a pickup so it is easier to get into. The cargo part of the vehicle is covered, so I can haul anything without worrying about rain damage or wind loss. The cover does limit the height of the items easy to shove in the back, but the cover can be removed. There are two tool storage areas on each fender well, which are very convenient for tie down material or other tools needed. It has a spacious interior and comfortable seats. Due to it is age, there have been repair issues, but only from normal wear. And it always starts. The automatic 4-wheel drive is very handy especially in winter and wet weather.

Our 2004 Chevrolet avalanche.
I own a 2004 Chevrolet avalanche and my husband and I love it. It's very comfortable to ride in, fun to drive, not so great on gas mileage. But we bought our avalanche mainly for it to tow and not worry about gas mileage. It also works as regular pick up truck for us as well for having to load heavy things or just for trash pick up and such to take to the local dumpster.

It has great power gets around well in snow.
Like the way it drives. I like the power.. I do not like on it rust. Tailgate lock does not work. I like that it is 4x5.

The engine is a string engine.
The Chevy avalanche is a very dependable truck. The Chevrolet models is the top line American made vehicle. The bed on the truck is short. The plastic handle to open the tailgate is one of the features that could have been made stronger. But overall the Chevrolet avalanche is one of my favorite trucks.

Great cab size and reliability, very comfortable for traveling. We travel to Colorado (from pa) every summer and it is held up great. We also haul construction material on a regular basis. We have had a few issues with a clicking engine and the brakes.

Good on gas and reliable truck to have
I love my avalanche. It is sturdy we take it out to the woods and go off road with it. The only thing I don't like is that the tailgate handle broke. So we replaced it and it works when it wants to. Other than that it is a good truck. It is also pretty good on gas. Especially when we take road trips.
accountCircle Wane C on May 27, 2019
It has a 5.3 engine in it which is the small V8 and is the best engine that Chevy built.
My Chevy Avalanche is a good truck l like that it has plenty of room in it. It drives very well and doesn't use a lot of gas. I have no complaints on this vehicle it has a lot of power for a 2004 with over 200000 miles.
accountCircle Steve H on May 22, 2019
Chevy did not build the Avalanche to withstand the test of time.
The dashboard display has ceased to show reliable information, including fuel gauge and speedometer. Replacement would require days of non-use. Rust everywhere. Electrical problems including seat heating persist. The motors operating the windows are unreliable. The sun roof has problems as well. I have had to replace tailgate mechanism at least four times. Truck was not built well.

Avalanches are wonderful vehicles.
The 4 wheel drive is messed up, check engine light on, drives wonderfully though. Has a ton of miles on it but drives like it doesn't. It is very comfortable, has a big back seat. Love the bed of the truck. The truck is super reliable and the best vehicle I've ever had.

Chevy avalanche is a good truck for the outdoorsman or the grocery shopper.
2004 Chevy avalanche has about a hundred fifty thousand miles on it. I think the only thing I have ever replaced on it was radiator. Very well-built truck for outdoors and grocery shopping. Love the tool boxes on the bed and the removable rear windshield.

It is reliable transportation for the most part.
I like the lines and style of the vehicle, but it has become very old rusting to pieces and sits too high making it hard for me to get in and out of.

Great vehicle, reliable, no major issues. Love that bed liner, I can take off the cover pieces or use them to safely store my stuff. The built in storage by the back wheels is also very convenient. Very comfortable and reliable. The maintenance is kept up well so it stays in great running condition. It is perfect for all of my traveling needs and getting me to and from the places I need to be. Not to bad on gas. Easy to handle and drive. Very comforting to my back, which is a plus.

2004 Chevrolet avalanche- pros outweigh cons!
My vehicle is a older model, however it drives perfectly. The only flaw I have had is the leather seats peeling. Other than that it runs smoothly, the seats are very much comfortable and roomy! I have three children and this is my daily driver compared to a 2012 dodge journey. It fits my family great, and if I need more bedroom the bad seats lay down to extend the truck bed. Another great feature I love is the sunroof!

2004 Chevy Avalanche Review
The only thing I don't like about Chevys is they are very brittle. Tailgate handle broke with a normal pull. Although the truck itself has been a great purchase. I've had Chevys in the past but they didn't measure up to my avalanche. Besides the normal oil changes and tire replacements everything with this truck has been supreme. Top notch. One of the best purchases I've ever made.

Greatest truck of all time.
My Chevrolet avalanche was the greatest purchase I have ever made. It is the most consistent four wheel drive truck in the snow. There is more than enough space for many passengers and not to mention the covered bed. It is great for hauling groceries etc. On rainy days.

The heat gets really hot and the air conditioning is super cold.
I don't like how big it is, the window on the passenger side doesn't roll down. The locks don't work. The heather makes a weird noise. There is a slight chug when you're not driving. The cigarette lighters do not work and the speakers are also not working

Honda Pilot-Functional. Affordable. Reliable.
I love my Honda pilot. We have five people and a dog in our family. So the third row is needed, but I didn't want to drive a minivan. Our third row is a bit small and does not have very much leg room, but it works fine for our younger ones and it is worth the trade off of a larger vehicle. I love the gas mileage my Honda gets so I didn't want a larger gas guzzler. For longer trips we purchased a cargo luggage rack with a waterproof bag that easily attaches to our 2 inch tow hitch that leaves us the space inside for comfort. Since the rear storage is limited when using the 3rd row seat in the reclined position. Overall, the pilot has proved functional, affordable and reliable. I would definitely buy it again!
