2004 Chevrolet Impala Owner Reviews & Problems
Reviews For Chevrolet Impala
Comfortable and classy Chevy Impala.
I haven't had any issues with the car. I have owned the car for almost 2 years now and have only taken it in to the mechanic for an oil change. It gets great gas mileage. I have taken it from Iowa to New Brunswick, Canada and returned it without any issues coming up. Very reliable! The seats are made of cloth which can make cleaning a little difficult, but I prefer cloth over leather regardless. It is a great vehicle to take on road trips! Plenty of room in the trunk and a reliable motor to get you farther than you could in other vehicles. It sits a little low to the ground, which means you have to be careful in certain areas, but it is a smooth ride! My friends and family have commented on the comfort and accessibility in the car, all positive comments! The defrost on the back windshield works perfectly and very efficiently. The car that I have has a remote start which helps a ton in the winter season. Heating and air conditioning work perfectly, and I have never had any problems with either. Space wise, the Impala is a great vehicle for a small family or for about 4 adults to comfortably share. I love the fact that the trunk has room for an extra tire and is concealed with a tarp like cloth so that I can fit more into the trunk of the car!
It is comfortable & gets decent mileage per gallon.
My Chevy Impala may be old but has low mileage as I 'm 2nd owner & 1st hardly drove car except to do errands in our small town & her husband was controlling & did any real driving that needed to be done using his Chevy. Also he was friends with owner of the dealership & therefore cars were well maintained while they owned Impala, other than it wouldn't pass smog at time of sale because she never went anywhere where she could "open it up" & clear out the system. I took about a month of driving on freeway & open highway to get it to pass. I then took it to my mechanic (out of town) & had him go thru whole car & replace anything that he felt needed it as I am disabled & cannot afford to have car breakdown anywhere. It is a comfortable car to drive & I have a bad back from a car accident & years of nursing. There is good visibility & that is an issue of importance to me because it is hard for me to turn my head much do to back & neck injuries. It is a 4 door sedan with a spacious trunk & backseat is spacious & part of it opens down into trunk so you can get a lot into vehicle.
My very dependable vehicle.
Gets good gas mileage. Large enough to hold all my grandchildren. My car is very dependable to get me to the valley for doctor appts etc. The trunk is also very large and can hold a lot of stuff, making this a good traveling car. I get regular oil changes and have only had a couple of things that needed a mechanic's attention luckily. I feel this is a very comfortable car to travel in and would have no problem if I had to drive it to California and back, which I have not done in a long while.
Very dependable family car
I love this car because it has lots of room, it's a good family car. It rides very smooth, the seats are really comfortable to ride in especially for long trips. The performance of the impala is all around great. It has been an extremely dependable car. I have never broke down in it in the last 10 years I have been driving it. The only problem I've had with it is about 5 months ago the transmission started slipping, it still gets me around but before long will need a new transmission.
Better new with low mileage.
My vehicle has shown issues with exhaust, locking ignition, struts and shocks issues. When researching fixes for said items, I have found that these particular issues are very common with my specific make and model. In my experience, Chevy sedan models tend to have functional errors like these. My experience is based on the current ownership of my vehicle and past vehicles that I have owned. However, each experience I have had has been with a higher mileage car, not a new purchase.
Overall the vehicle is alright when your not having to sink money into it.
The vehicle has electrical issues and has since the day I bought it, the radiator started leaking, the vehicle is currently parked and unable to be started or driven because the bcm went out and after replacing it the vehicle decided it was going to enter into security mode and I can not fix it because the ignition lock is faulty and Chevrolet refuses to fix the problem because this is the second ignition lock that has went bad in the vehicle.
This car is sturdy. I feel safe when driving it and when I was rear-ended I didn't take any damage and other than some scrapings of the paint on the bumper the car handled it well as well.
I like that it is sturdy. And since it is my first car I have a lot of positive feels for it. I like that it can fit at several people in because I can give people a ride. I dislike that it is a larger car and that it is heavy. The gas mileage leaves much to be desired. The car looks like a car for someone older than I am as well. It doesn't fit my vibe. I'd rather have a smaller more compact vehicle that looked a little more modern.
My new to me but used 2004 Impala.
I just bought my used Impala about a month ago. I like it. It is a nice car but I can say it is plain. There's no special features or extras. And after driving a Buick leasable for years it definitely does not stand out. The 3. 4 v6 motor does not have the power the 3800 motor has. And the transmission does not shift like my Buick. It will probably be the first thing to go out. It does ride nice though. Just is not a "stand out" car.
Chevy Impala are great cars.
I have a very good car. Get me where I am going with no problems. I love almost everything about my car. I especially love the color of it which is burgundy. I am not so in love with the interior color, which is light brown. My car gives me great performance. gives me good mileage per gallon. Giving its 2018 and the car was manufactured in 2004, its still has great performance and in good condition.
Great car with minor problems.
The problems with the car are mostly minor like need a new radiator cap, gas meter does not accurately tell you how much gas is in car and need a new gas cap. The major problem is car sounds like an airplane when accelerating. Overall without the previous started problems it performs exceedingly well, is comfortable and is reliable to get you from point A to point B without concern.
