Reliable, uncomplicated and dependable transportation.

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Work Truck

It is a regular cab, short wheelbase pickup truck. It has no more space in the cab than I need. It heats up quickly in the winter and cools quickly in the summer. It is a work truck or WT designation, which means no frills. The floor mats are rubber, no carpet, which makes cleaning the cab a breeze. The door locks and windows are manual, which is no longer offered in most pickups. With manual controls, there are less electronic components to malfunction. Since I do not drive this vehicle on the freeway often, a smaller more fuel efficient six cylinder engine is much more economical. I think that many people like me would purchase simple, inexpensive but dependable vehicles such as this one. I would applaud any manufacturer to produce more simple vehicles. These would be less expensive to operate, less expensive to insure and capable of lasting 150,000 miles or more.

My Chevy truck is dependable and it has 147 thousands miles on it!

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Work Truck

We bought our truck new, it has been a really good truck with no major repairs needed. The truck has been very dependable, the only things that I would change would be the windows and locks. I would rather have power windows and locks because to me they are safer if you are a woman and alone, but my husband does not like them because the motors can go bad, and usually do eventually and that can be a pretty big expense. My truck is a v6 with a 4.3 liter engine, I have several vehicles with these motors and they have been so dependable. I love my truck.

This is a no bs cheap, reliable vehicle.

Barebones version of the truck, however in terms of reliability I am impressed. Especially for being 14 years old. Have had for about 2 years now and have replaced universals, wheel bearings, and brakes. All of which are to be expected with an older vehicle. I drive it 50 miles a day on the through way to go to work and it does pretty well in terms of reliability and fuel consumption in spite of high speeds.

The Silverado is a workhorse.

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Work Truck

I have never had any problems with my Silverado. It's reliable, comfortable and handles well on the street and highway. The air conditioner will freeze you out though, but that's definitely a pro here in the South. The 8 foot bed is perfect for hauling lumber, dirt or any building and landscaping supplies.
